What is Eastwynne?

Eastwynne is the passion project of WTS₂ (aka Dee, the one writing this post hi). It follows Ester and Sye as they navigate through college and life in the titular city, Eastwynne. It’s an extravagant city, the best of the best, not only that, but magic is commonplace.

I started working on Eastwynne around 2018-ish. It was originally a spin-off of another project of mine, Leech; its purpose was to explore the past of the main characters—basically a prequel. After developing the story more, I realized Eastwynne wouldn’t be a spin-off but rather the new first entry of the saga, instead of Leech.

Eastwynne has taken on many forms, animated series, book chapters, an audio drama, and now a game. I’m mainly focusing on the last 2 mediums for now.

Animated Series

The first episode introduces the basic narrative of the story and our leading characters. I animated it in a way that imitates a video game; the much-appreciated and overwhelming positive response to this style led me to actually making it into a game.

Video Game

Production of the game began in early 2025. Of course, it’s an RPG—a choose-your-own-adventure CRPG. Visual novels and other RPGs like the Dragon Age series and Baldur’s Gate 3 were huge sources of inspiration. I knew if I was serious about this, the game would be non-linear; you’d see events and sides of the characters that were not “canon”. It’s fun, it’s a great writing exercise, and technical too.

The demo is not a small undertaking; it’s not only being used as a way to introduce the audience to the world, but to test out how I want the main game to function. Ironing out the kinks.

It has been released, but the demo will continue to receive major updates for about a year or so. The first substantial update releasing in October 2025, for the Steam Next Fest.
